Does ChatGPT recommend you for your prompt?

Type the question your buyers ask and the brand you want named. We put it to the engine more than once, because the same prompt never gives the same answer twice.

  • Free, no signup for the basic result
  • Two runs free, five when signed in
  • Live answers, no sample data
Optional — enables the “cited” signal.
Optional, up to five, comma separated.

What you get back

  • An appearance rateHow many of the runs named your brand, and where in the list.
  • Run by runEvery answer shown separately, so you can see the variance.
  • How sure we can beA confidence range, because a few runs cannot promise a precise number.

We ask the same question more than once on purpose. Two runs are free; signing in raises it to five.

Why we ask more than once

One question. Several answers.

The same prompt does not produce the same answer twice. Ask ChatGPT "best CRM for startups" three times and you will often get three overlapping but different lists. A single check would be measuring noise, so this tool runs your prompt several times and reports how many of those runs named your brand. A 1-of-3 result and a 3-of-3 result are very different positions, and averaging them into a single yes/no would hide that.

  1. 1

    We ask it again

Your prompt goes to the engine several times. Two runs are free, five when you are signed in.

  2. 2

    We read each answer

Each one is checked for your brand, your position in the list, your domain as a source and any competitor named.

  3. 3

We report a rate, not a yes

You get how many runs named you, with a confidence range that shows how much to trust it.

What this measures, precisely.

What this measures, precisely

This queries the OpenAI API, which is not the same surface as the ChatGPT app. The app may run a different model version, personalises to the signed-in account, and browses the live web. This tool measures what the model returns from its training for your prompt, with no browsing and no personalisation. That is a real signal about how the model represents your category, but it is not a guarantee of what any individual person sees in their own session.

Tracking citation share across ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini every week, on the full prompt set your buyers use, is what we run as a service.

FAQ

Questions about ChatGPT rankings.

What is a ChatGPT rank checker?

A ChatGPT rank checker tests whether ChatGPT names a particular brand when it answers a specific question. You give it a buying-intent prompt, such as "best CRM for a small sales team", along with the brand you want to find, and it reports whether the brand appears in the answer and where it sits in the list. It measures recommendation share for a prompt rather than a position in a page of blue links.

Why does the result say 2 of 3 instead of a single rank?

ChatGPT does not return the same answer twice for the same question, so a single check would be measuring randomness rather than standing. This tool runs your prompt several times and reports how many of those runs mentioned your brand, which is an honest description of something genuinely variable. Being named in one run out of three and in three out of three are very different competitive positions.

Is this the same as what I see in the ChatGPT app?

Not exactly. This tool queries the OpenAI API, while the ChatGPT app may use a different model version, personalises answers to your account, and can browse the live web. The result here reflects how the underlying model represents your category from its training, which is a useful and real signal, but an individual person’s session can differ.

Why is my brand missing when my SEO rankings are strong?

Ranking in Google and being named by ChatGPT are different achievements with different inputs. Classic rankings reward your own pages, while a model’s answer is shaped by how often your brand is described on the third-party sources it learned from, such as review sites, comparison articles and community threads. A brand can hold the top organic position and still be absent from the answer because nobody else writes about it.

Does blocking AI crawlers stop ChatGPT recommending me?

Blocking crawlers such as GPTBot prevents your own pages from being read, but it does not remove your brand from what the model already learned or from what other sites say about you. In practice a blocked site loses the ability to shape its own description while competitors keep theirs. You can check which AI crawlers your site currently allows with our AI visibility checker.

What prompt should I test first?

Test the question a buyer would type when they do not yet know your brand exists, such as "best accounting software for freelancers in India" rather than "is Acme any good". Prompts that already contain your brand name only confirm the model knows you exist, whereas category prompts reveal whether you are recommended when you are not asked for by name. Those category prompts are where new demand is actually won or lost.
