Descriptions measured in pixels, not guessed in characters.
Give us a page URL or paste its text. We write options grounded in your page, measure each one the way Google truncates, and show the live results you compete with.

Measured in pixels, not characters
What governs a good one
Four rules, stated plainly.
1
It is not a ranking factor
Google has said for years that meta descriptions do not influence position. What they influence is whether someone clicks the result you already earned, which is why they are worth writing well and not worth stuffing.
2
Google may rewrite it anyway
If your description does not match the query well, Google will substitute text pulled from the page. A description written around what the page genuinely says is the one most likely to survive intact.
3
The limit is pixels, not characters
Truncation happens at roughly 920 pixels on desktop, so a line of capitals is cut sooner than a line of lowercase. 155 characters is the standard proxy, and this tool cuts on a word boundary rather than mid-word.
4
One per page, never duplicated
Duplicate descriptions across a site tell an engine the pages are interchangeable. If two pages genuinely need the same description, that is usually a sign the two pages should be one.

What the tool will not do.
What this tool will not do
It will not write claims for you. Every candidate is rearranged from the text you paste, so if your input does not mention a benefit, no option will invent one. It also cannot know how your description performs, because click-through depends on the query, the competing results and the searcher — none of which this tool can see. The scores describe the string only.
If descriptions across a whole site need rewriting, that is a content audit rather than a form.
FAQ
Questions about meta descriptions.
What is a meta description generator?
A meta description generator turns a page’s content into the short summary that appears under its title in search results. You supply the page’s subject and optionally a target keyword, and the tool produces options that fit within the length search engines display. Its job is to make writing that snippet fast and consistent, not to invent selling points the page does not support.
How long should a meta description be?
Around 120 to 155 characters is the practical range. Google truncates by pixel width rather than character count, at roughly 920 pixels on desktop, so a description written in capitals is cut earlier than the same length in lowercase. Under 70 characters is valid but usually leaves space unused that a competitor will fill.
Do meta descriptions affect rankings?
No. Google has stated repeatedly that meta descriptions are not a ranking factor, and no keyword you place in one will move your position. They affect click-through rate instead, which decides whether the ranking you already have turns into a visit.
Why does Google show different text than the description I wrote?
Google rewrites descriptions when it judges that a different passage answers the searcher’s query better, and it does so for a large share of results. The most reliable defence is a description that accurately reflects what the page actually says, since a mismatch between the snippet and the content is what prompts the substitution in the first place.
Should every page have its own meta description?
Every page you want people to click from search should have its own, and no two should be identical. Duplicate descriptions signal to an engine that the pages are interchangeable and give a searcher no reason to prefer one. For very large sites, writing them for the pages that actually attract search traffic is a better use of time than covering every URL.
Is this tool free to use?
Yes. The generated descriptions, their character counts and the search-result preview are all shown immediately with no email and no signup, and everything runs in your browser. Only the detailed report, which breaks down how each option scored and what to change, asks for an email address.
